Help Wanted.

I'm really slow at writing these things. I mean I have more than I've posted, four complete scripts in fact, but I've been doing this for years now. I need someone to bounce ideas off and who could help me mold those ideas. It's too hard with it just ratteling around my head.

It can take weeks, even months to get a story formulated that way and I want to get this story out.

Issue # 1 - Step into the Darkness Pt1 (Pages 5 - 6)

Close as he drops his head and we see the darkness of his iris and a milky white in his pupil similar to the way dog’s eyes are.

1. A man wearing a delivery mans outfit stands in the hallway of an apartment building and presses the buzzer for apartment 5A. He is perspiring, nervous.

2. He glances behind him

3. Down the corridor and behind two walls there are five men.
Behind the wall to the right is a man with grey, clooney style hair and a thin face; he is smartly dressed with a shirt and tie he is in his early forties. This is Elite Criminal Defence (EDC) Senior Agent Marcus Reese.

Beside him is a younger man, early thirties, dressed in stylish clothes; he has cropped blond hair, long sideburns and a small beard on his chin. He is tall with good looks and an appearance that suggests confidence in himself. This is ECD Agent Steven Shaw.

On the left hand side behind the wall are two Police Officers wearing SWAT outfits one is crouched and looking at a mirror which shows him the door where the ‘delivery man’ stands, the other is bent down peering at the mirror round his colleges shoulder. Beside them is a Hispanic man in his mid fifties, he has the frown of a short-tempered man and sports a handlebar moustache. His cloths are that of a stereotypical detective with a shirt and tie and long raincoat. He is slightly over weight and his face is a picture of contempt; this is Detective Roberto ‘Bob’ Rodriguez.

REESE:
Okay... looks like nobody’s answering the door and we have to answer it for them. Does everyone know the drill?

RODRIGUEZ:
Yeah, my guys go in and you take the credit. Got it.

Page 6.

1. As above, now with all the men looking at Reese. Rodriguez hates each word that comes from Reese’s mouth.

REESE:
Detective, this man is extremely dangerous. Last week somebody sent two men to kill him, one is dead and the other is missing a hand. If this goes badly, it’ll go very badly.

I’ll ask again everyone ready?

SHAW:
Ready.

SWAT 1:
Ready.

SWAT 2:
Ready.

RODRIGUEZ:
…Yeah.

2. Close on Reese and Shaw as they turn to one another.

SHAW:
Between you and me boss, how bad could this get?

3. Reese considers how he should answer.

REESE
Honesty… I’m surprised we’re not dead yet.

4. Door to 5A. There is now no one in front of it.

Writers Commentary – Issue # 1 - Step into the Darkness Pt. 1 (pages 1 – 4)

My original introduction was just a couple of simple long shots of Jade walking into the building where he was staying and being watched by and talked about separately by the ECD (government agents) and Shade and Hunter. I felt that this was a little bland. I had devised some dialog to hook you into the story but, this is a visual medium I’m writing for.

The attack on Shade gives the story a shot of adrenaline straight off the mark and gives you a little insight into Shades character and a preview of Mr. Sunday, two major characters within the story. Also the dialogue gives the little teasers like Shade being called’ Samurai’ and the force of the ‘Sun-Gun’ (the blast that hits Shade)

What it also does is show why Jade is needed to take up the mantle of the Seed, because Shade has been injured. As the story goes forward that should be clear to the reader as should the reason that it took four years to find Jade.

The ultimate aim of the introduction was to tantalise the reader and hook them into the story. Hopefully I’ve achieved that with out confusing the reader too much.

Issue # 1 - Step into the Darkness Pt1 (Pages 1 - 4)

Page 1.

1. A man dressed in black combat style clothing runs along a rooftop; a black bandanna that comes down over his nose masks his face. This is Philip Shade operating as the Shadow Seed. It is night and Shade moves swiftly and efficiently.

SHADE:
John, are you there? I’m in trouble.

Page 2.

1. Shade jumps down to a lower rooftop

JOHN (Radio):
I’m here, what happened?

2. Shade walks towards the roof access door on the building he jumped down to. It is dark so the door is heavily shadowed.

SHADE:
Their dead John, all of them are dead.

JOHN (Radio):
My god… how…where are you?

3. Shade stops cold and suddenly.

SHADE:
I’m at one of our buildings I’m-

JOHN (Radio):
Philip..?

4. Close on the door, we see it is damaged at the lock.

5. Shade pulls out his weapon, a stylised Bo Staff, and adopts a combat stance.

JOHN (Radio):
Philip!

SHADE:
John… their here.

Page 3.

1. Shades chest explodes in a ball of pure light, he cries out in agony as the blast hurtles him across the rooftop.

Page 4.

1. Shade leys slumped against a wall on the rooftop with smoke rising and blood seeping from his chest. His mask is torn in a line up his left cheek.

2. Close on shades face as a well-manicured hand lifts his mask off.

VOICE:
So this is the infamous Samurai the legendary Shadow Seed? After all the hype this is just a bit of an anti-climax.

3. Shade’s weak and battered head rises to look at his assailant. He has coal black soulless eyes that are dim with the approach of death.

4. Shade sees a blurred figure of a small white haired man in a white suit, his eyes are white and spherical suggesting glasses and he looks down on Shade. Beside him is a taller man also dressed in white, but this time in a body suit with unseen emblems and attachments, the tall man hols a smoking golden coloured gun in his hand.

SMALL MAN:
Welcome to the 21st Century Samurai. The time of the sword and the staff is long dead… just as your own time is.

5. Shade is left slumped against the wall his hand now clutching and the wound in his chest as blood runs from it. His face is tired, grim, determined, and bitter all at once.

6. Close as he drops his head and we see the darkness of his iris and a milky white in his pupil similar to the way dog’s eyes are.
